The first of... a few?

Governor Palin has agreed to an interview. Mind you that this is the first interview with a real news organization and will take place nearly two weeks after she was selected for the ticket. With everyone and their mother (except Oprah) probably having probably put in requests to interview her, I wonder why the McCain campaign picked Charlie Gibson?

Why are they hiding her?

Sarah Palin is still using a teleprompter and not talking to the press.  Yes, she needs to be opened up for more scrutiny by press.  If the McCain campaign doesn't, the press will really start to go after her.  When you don't give them stuff to report on, they'll just start speculating.  And enough speculation about somebody morphs into fact in the minds of viewers when there is nothing to rebut the speculation.

The longer she stays hidden, the more it shows she's unprepared about practically every issue facing this country.  If Barack Obama can go on Bill O'Reilly, surely Sarah Palin talk to someone with a tape recorder.

Where is TN GOP on Troopergate: Alaska?

I concur.  I realize the TN GOP isn't the most consistent group.  But when are they going to call for an independant investigation into Gov. Palin's Troopergate?

For the record, Palin is going to be a flop

In watching the coverage of the Palin Vice-Presidential pick, or rather the gussing over it, I felt compelled to go on record about how big of a flop she will eventually be seen as.

The biggest point that is not being talked about is that SHE'S THE GOVERNOR OF ALASKA!!!!!!  ALASKA!!!!!!!  670,000 people live in Alaska.  Memphis has a higher population. That population level would make it the 20th largest CITY in the country, right above Baltimore.  The state's budget is unlike any other, with more than 80% of the state's revenues derived from petroleum extraction.  There is no way she knows how to run a regular government budget with a normal tax system.  The one she did run, the city of Wasilla,  she "racked up nearly $20 million in long-term debt as mayor of the tiny town of Wasilla — that amounts to $3,000 per resident."

The speech she gave on Wednesday night was written by a Bush speechwriter (a man) to introduce her to the country and the Republican Party.  So she read a speech that someone wrote for her that she practiced all day long?  So she READ WORDS IN PUBLIC.  She said a canned line, and then waited for the Republican partisans to yell, scream and shit themselves.  She hasn't talked to a single reporter since she's been chosen, except People magazine.  Who knows if she's ever going to speak to anyone again that isn't a prepared speech or a reporter that's in the can (Fox News).  Since being named, she's had three public appearances.  Why are they hiding her?  What are they afraid she will say?  Will she give Dick Cheney are run for his money in hiding out?

She is not going to play to Hillary Clinton's supporters.  If anything, she is going to turn them off.  Not only is she the complete political opposite of Sen. Clinton, most of her supporters are going to see the Palin pick as blatant pandering.  Many Clintonistas were saying before the Biden pick that he couldn't pick another woman because they wanted Hillary to be the first woman President/Vice-President.

The Republican Party can shout "reformer" as much as the want to, but if she was a man she'd still be in Alaska.  Give voters two months, and they'll see that.  (And I'm so glad the base of the Republican Party is happy now.  Heaven knows that that can do nothing but bode well for the country (see last 8 years).)  She has yet to even mention healthcare, education, the middle class, and many other things that other people need to be addressed that they face every day.  And unless we're all having to hunt and gather our own food, moose hunting is not a real issue.

I cannot wait for the novelty of Sarah Palin to wear off.  And it will.  And I would like to attack her record more, but I'm already tired of her.  I'm ready for the the campaign to get back to McCain/Bush/Palin vs. Obama/Biden.
